Editorial Method & Sources

This page explains how Parfum Orient builds, verifies, and updates its library dedicated to oriental perfumery. It distinguishes verifiable facts, information provided by brands, and descriptions or olfactory impressions.

Our Source Hierarchy

  1. Regulatory texts and institutional sources for legal, regulatory, and compliance matters.
  2. Technical databases and organizations for ingredients, nomenclature, and perfume safety-related topics.
  3. Professional sources and brand documentation for information about product ranges, stated compositions, brand or product history.
  4. Specialized books and publications for the history, culture, materials, and techniques of perfumery.
  5. Editorial observation for profile, perception, and comparison descriptions. It is presented as such and does not replace technical data.

Reference Institutional and Technical Sources

How We Use These Sources

  • A regulatory source is preferred for a legal requirement or regulatory definition.
  • A technical database is preferred for nomenclature, an ingredient, or safety information within its scope.
  • A brand source is used to document what a brand states about a product or range; it is not treated as independent proof of all the properties claimed.
  • An olfactory description is identified as an editorial description when it is not based on measurable data.

What We Avoid

  • presenting a personal preference as a universal fact;
  • inferring the presence or exact concentration of a material solely from a perfume’s name or marketing claims;
  • presenting an olfactory accord as proof of the presence of a natural material;
  • using a ranking as though it were a scientific measure of quality;
  • keeping outdated commercial information without indicating that it may change.

Updates

Important articles may be revised when reliable information changes: a brand’s range, product characteristics, editorial availability, regulations, or technical documentation. The update date displayed on the content indicates the latest revision made in Shopify.

Editorial Responsibility

The library’s content is primarily written under the responsibility of Stéphane LE MOAL. The author page presents his editorial role and the scope of the guides.
